Notes from across the section:

Area 3 EC for Ohio Count NV9V reports: ARES members Dale Watchorn
(WD0HMO) and Nick White (NV9V) participated as NCO's for a logistics net
supporting several KY Baptist Relief Kitchens in the LA hurricane
damaged areas.  The net was a radio satellite link established by Ohio
Co. EMS operating in conjunction with the Owensboro Radio Club, and
Henderson EMS.  While the principle purpose of the net was handling
logistics traffic, we also relayed a small number of H & W message for
Satern net operators on 20 meters.

Area 4

N4VDJ, EC Barren County Reports 5 ARES completed NIMS Training and spent
45 hrs working in a shelter for evacuees from Katrina to their
community.

Area 6

Anderson County EC, KE4AIE reports that the Anderson Co ARES displayed
their new field communications trailer during the Burgoo Festival in
Lawrenceburg. A Kenwood TM-D700A was operational in the trailer during
the weekend and a few contacts were made.

Area 9 N4KJU EC of Johnson County reports that several members of
Johnson County ARES will begin CERT training on Wednesday October 5,
2005

Fayette County EC KG4TND and the FCARES organization were kept busy
through the month assisting county Emergency Management with NDMS and
Evacuee logistics. His hours are reflected below.

Standby activations for possible Hurricane Katrina NDMS and evacuee
arrivals on: 

September 1    4 hours
 
September 2    2 hours
 
September 3    2 hours

NDMS activation on 9/23 K4KJQ was activated for 2.5 hours.  Lexington
received 10 patients from Galveston in advance of Hurricane Rita.

SEC KA4MAP and ASEC Ron Goodpastor, AG4TY attended the Ky Emergency
Services Conference Sept. 6-8 in Owensboro, Ky.  This is an annual
workshop for APCO, Ky Emergency Number Association and Ky Emergency
Management Association members. Well over 350 attended this event. 


Greater Louisville Hamfest was held at the Paroquet Springs Conference
Center in Shepherdsville on September 10, 2005. The following awards
were presented at the Emergency Communications Forum: 


Jim Mason, W4RCX - KY ARES Operator of the Year for 2005!

Jim is an exceptional leader and a passionate advocate of amateur radio
and an excellent example to all who know him. 

As DEC for Area 3, and President of the Owensboro Amateur Radio Club Jim
has worked hard to bring amateur radio and the served agencies of his
area together for the public good.

Glenn Foley, KO4OL - Lifetime Achievement Award

In sincere appreciation of his consistent and long time support of
amateur radio through its many facets; CW, ARES, MARS, RACES and his
Elmering abilities to newer amateurs. The amateurs of the Kentucky
Section extend their thanks and deepest respect.
