A 4.0 can get your attention, but there usually isn't much damage.
Of course, the big fear is that a 4.0 may only be a preshock, with a 
much larger one following.

I remember hearing about that one.  But, a 3.7 is pretty mild,
and it seemed to be an isolated incident.  Most quakes are isolated
incidents, with the exception of preshocks and aftershocks.  But,
those are pretty rare for around here (Kentucky).

I think that there's an increased awareness of Earthquakes starting
about six months ago with the South Pacific tsunami.  To further 
attract attention, there have been a number of rather stronger than
usual quakes in California this past week, as well as some in Japan 
and Chile.  This would seem to indicate that tectonic activity may 
have picked up for the Pacific tectonic plate, and has everyone a 
bit more alert to what might happen in the future.  As a side effect 
of this, quakes associated with other tectonic plates are also being 
observed more closely, including those in Kentucky, just in case they
could somehow be related to the increased activity of the Pacific plate.
