Scott Co. Amateurs are involved in CERT Training this month. Also on
5/28-29/05 Scott County Amateur Radio and Emergency Service Club
provided the Bluegrass Cycling Club with communications support for the
Horsey Hundred Bike Ride. A bike ride that involves 100 miles of roads
in Scott and surrounding counties in KY. Amateurs manned sites along the
routes for the riders and provided SAG support.

NB4K, DEC of District 7 reports: District 7 received another $5000
donation. A purchase of 3 Yaesu FT 8800's with mobile antennas and 4
Yaesu FT 60 Handhelds. This makes a total of 8 of the 9 counties in
District 7 that have VHF/UHF capabilities with Scott County having an
additional HF radio. Each EC also has an additional HT for use in his
county as needed.
>From Fayette County EC, KD4PWL - There was a tabletop exercise on
5/26/05 that was attended by W2LTB. Jim is DEC and FCARES Training
Coordinator. He served as an advisor providing answers to question
about amateur radio capabilities at the event.
Two public service events took place this month. At both the CKRH High
Hope Steeplechase and the Lexington Humand Society "Mutt Strut," amateur
radio operators provided safety and logistical communications.
Spread the Word in Club Newsletters, etc. Nominations are now open for
the 2005 Ky ARES Operator of the Year thru July 31. If you have an
outstanding ARES operator in your organization, please submit their info
to us. Nominations forms are located at:
