Notes from across the section:

The Scott County ARES was activated by Scott County EMA to help in a
Search and Rescue operation. Total man-hours for the search was 4 hours.

----------------------------------------------------

>From Fayette County EC, KD4PWL - Public service event included America's
Walk for Diabetes and a CERT exercise in which 3 hams (AG4LB, KG4TND,
and W2LTB were participants.

----------------------------------------------------

Field Day was a big operating event again this year.

KyEM's communications arsenal was boosted when a new MCP was delivered
this month and activated for the Field Day op's. This mobile command
post is mounted on a 2005 Freightliner chassis and carries all amateur
bands from 1.8 thru 440 MHz, and public service bands on 30-50, 150, 450
and 800 MHz. It carries both the MACOM and Motorola APCO Project 25
systems, a two meter portable repeater as well as a public safety band
repeater, a bank charger and several HT's and Amateur TV equipment with
a pan and tilt camera on a hydraulic mast. It is also set up for
wireless internet operation. There are also TWO on-board generators for
emergency power. Cost of the unit was just shy of $600K. A nice example
of your Homeland Security dollars at work!

As much as they would love to bring this out for a show and tell, it is
requested that the new MCP be deployed during future community exercises
and actually USED! as opposed to being just a show piece. Money is
tight and operating expenses are best justified if we can really put
this unit to the test and communicate with it in your community to YOUR
radio systems in exercise play!
