Louisville Hamfest ARRL State Convention and Forums
This year, the Greater Louisville Hamfest is proud to sponsor the 2005 ARRL
Kentucky State Convention. We regret, however, there seemed to be some
confusion and disappointment over not having a banquet again. The GLHA
decided not to have another banquet mainly because the indoor flea market
area will be open for setup Friday night from 6 until 10. We simply do not
have the staff to work both events simultaneously. We apologize for any
misunderstandings this may have caused.
So far, our forums this year will include an ARRL Forum, ARES Forum,
Tri-Service MARS Forum and a 3960 Group Meeting. The committee is also
working on the possibility of a Mobile Shoot-Out, but we don't know if we
have the space or the people for the event.
New this year will be a Computer Forum to help computer users take back
control of their PC from spyware, viruses and popup ads. Bring your computer
questions. This forum is for everyone from beginners to computer geeks.
The National Weather Service Booth has something unique - a real tornado! It
is a 4-foot working tornado and you can even put your hand into it. It is
amazing to see and both kids and adults will be fascinated. Three
meteorologists will be on hand to answer your questions about the tornado
and other weather events.
Just like past years, the ladies can look forward to BINGO. It's free and
there are some fun prizes. There are also refreshments at the Paroquet
Springs Refreshment Stand. Hopefully they will not run out of food this
year. We are also trying to get coffee available during the setup hours of
the indoor flea market folks and commercial vendors.
Advanced tickets and spaces are now available with forms on the web site. We
encourage merchants to register as early as possible this year since we sold
out last year. Tickets remain at $5 in advance and $6 at the door with kids
under 12 free.
If you want to help during the hamfest, let us know. Contact Stu Kratz,
WX4ME at (502) 640-0326 or email him via the GLHA web site.
