Introduction to Amateur Radio Class - presented by the Bluegrass Amatuer
Radio Society
This free class will meet Thursday nights (except for
holidays and days that UK is closed) from 7:00PM to 9:00PM starting Next
Thursday February 3, 2005. Theory, Rules and Operating Practices will be
taught during the first hour of the class (7:00-8:00 PM). Morse Code (5
Words per Minute) will be taught from 8:00-9:00PM. So if you only need
code you don't need to come until 8:00. This class will be in the U of K
Chemistry and Physics Building on Rose Street in Room 163. We will be
using the "Now You're Talking" text book. Text books will be free for
student up thru the 12th grade. Otherwise, they will be $15 each.
Parking has been the largest issue. But the parking department has said
that our students may park in the lot behind the Faculty Club at the corner
of Rose Street and Columbia Ave. Just turn onto Columbia Ave from Rose
Street and take the first right turn off Columbia Ave. This will lead you
to the parking lot. Do not park at the meters unless you have to because
they will be monitored until 7:30PM and you will have feed them some coins.
Drive thru the open gates and find a parking space. The only other lot
that does not require a permit at this time of the evening is the "C-1"
lot behind Memorial Coliseum. This can be accessed by turning onto College
View Ave off of Rose Street.
The instructors will be Bobby Rolph and Bill Fuqua
