[KYHAM] KPC3+ with FT-1500 transmit problem

I have a KPC3+ Im trying to interface to an FT-1500.  I'm using the
Mini-DIN port on the back of the radio and everything seems to be working
except the actual transmit of audio.

I go into my computer software, key up a transmission and I can see the
TNC show XMIT, I can see the radio PTT trip and I can hear a 'kerchunk
[dead air]  kerchunk' on my monitoring radio but no actualy
squealing/buzz/pop/etc of digital traffic.

I've tried messing with the XMITLEVEL of the TNC by using - and + in
CALibration mode but I hear no difference going full - or full + or
anywhere in between.

I also tried using the CALibration mode Transmit and I hear nothing.

Has anyone had this problem before?

Just wondering if Im overlooking something obvious before I go rewiring my
cables and tinkering with things.
