KEN this evening had a lot of QRN and 21 hardy stations on the air. All
districts except, 8, 10, 11 and 14 were represented by one or more
stations.
Items on the agenda where:
1. KyHAM web site local info updates - Site has been updated by
KD4PWL all EC's/ DEC, and club officers are urged to check the
"Local Info" listings from the Kentucky District Map links at
http://kyham.net/county.html and advise of any incorrect info
Also, If you have a net that is not listed in these district
pages, let Pat know and we can get this in place for others who
are looking for area info to see. Pat has also changed all of the
e-mail links affected by my change in e-mail address to
ka4map at ispky.com so the coming activity report period should flow
as usual.
2. KyHam Listserv - Even though we have moved the main web site
address to a new domain, Al Waller is still providing us a back
up site on the qth.net system and we still are using the QSL.NET
system for the KyHam Listserv every day. Al, K3TKJ maintains
this system through donations from us and out of his own pocket.
It is not a business enterprise. Anyone who can do so is asked to
contribute to the cause at: http://www.qsl.net/donations.html
One weekend recently, the servers failed and needed replacement.
This is not cheap!
3. Training - Since January 1, more hams are going to
http://kyham.net/kyares/kytest.html and making use of the three
part FREE Ky EMCOMM units of training there. Ron is sending out
completion certificates to those who finish the training as he
can get to them. He has been given an assignment at his paying
job which is consuming a great deal of his time so please be patient.
He grades these by hand, as automated as it seems, it still comes dfown to
a man with a template in his hand to grade the tests.
4. The May edition of the SERA Journal had a great deal of input
from the Ky Section. Ky SERA Correspondent Pat Spencer was asked
to sit in on a sort of restructuring debate between himself and
fellow columnist Marvin Whatley, AA4YW of North Carolina. Pat
was assigned the no code side of the issue of restructuring
while Marvin, AA4YW addressed the pro-CW stance (pages 20 and
21). Both sides were addressed in admirable fashion. Aside from
this and his regular Ky News column (page 44), Pat also had a
story regarding foxhunting on page 62 and 63. Last but not least,
our recent multi-agency/multi-jurisdictional earthquake exercise
was featured on page 45 complete with 3 b/w photos. Thanks SERA!
