SUBJECT: EEI REPORT 
1. REF: ROLLING THUNDER/KY 
A.  211120Z MAR 04:  A major earthquake has just occurred in the New Madrid 
Fault Zone.  The NEIC reported that the magnitude of the quake was 7.6 on the 
Richter Scale, and that the epicenter was located 3 miles south of Wickliffe 
(KY), (5 miles east of Cairo, 25 miles west of Paducah).  The violent shaking at 
Wickliffe lasted for about 15 seconds.  However, in the Evansville, Memphis 
and St. Louis areas, where the damage from the quake was more extensive, the 
shaking lasted for more than 60 seconds.  Shaking was experienced as far north 
as Chicago, as far east as Lexington, as far west as Springfield (MO) and as 
far south as Vicksburg (MS).
