Notice to all KEN regulars and other interested parties.
Effective with the March 15, 2004 net;
A. Ky Emergency Net or KEN will be moving to 3.993.5 MHz +/- on LSB, Monday
evenings at 7:30 PM Eastern or 6:30 PM Central time. .
B. Ky Emergency Net will not only be the Ky Section ARES net as it has in
the past, but also become the Ky State-wide RACES coordinative net as well
with the concurrence of state EM. This change will also be reflected in the
opening preamble.
Any amateurs interested in making preparations to provide emergency support
communications for state and local emergency management and other served
agencies for emergencies and disasters have always been welcomed to the KEN
in the past and this will not change in the future. Kentucky Emergency Net
is located in the General class portion of the bands to allow participation
from the broadest spectrum of HF privileged amateur radio licensees and can
now serve as a hub for the coordinated efforts of ARES and RACES in the
state. Members of MARS and CAP are also welcome to join us whenever they
have the time and share experiences and ideas for the efforts of greater
preparedness of radio amateurs to serve our Commonwealth and its citizens in
times of need.
