David :
If you will stop and recall the ARRL did just that for years. when a major
issue was to be made a poll was sent out with QST I still have a few of the
little blue or green envelopes in some of my old qst that i collected in
later years.. NOT Practical ? I can not agree with this view.. the website
has polls all the time. right now you can vote as many times as you like
but that is a very ez fix. so they CAN poll the membership. or put the poll
back in QST .. Dave and the boys have removed just about everything from
QST now in the name of saving money. the section reports are gone the
contest scores are on their way out also. just to list two.
If they used all the mailings asking for money for the defence fund, gold
fund, and 2 or 3 others they could poll the membership. but they will not
as they really do not even care about what the membership thinks.. BLP will
slowly fade from the picture as FEMA and Homeland have made a stand but i
am sure we will read down the road how the ARRL saved us from this and that
they will need to increase the dues to $50 p/yr so that the fund can be
kept full to fight off those wanting our bands..
I do not care if they grandfather hams it is not the first time it has been
done. but i do not go alone with giving away a ticket.
Do you really believe that some guy will get on HF and run only the 100
watts he is allowed ? this has not worked in the past 25 yrs and will not
in the future.. look how many no code tech were found working out of their
bands.
I respect your views and IF the ARRL would at least try in some small way
of polling the membership and just act like they were interested in
supporting the views of the membership i would stay with them and support
them . But they have not in a very long time.
with best regards
