Tom:
you are correct the growth will not change much we will keep at the same
rate we have for the past 50+ years. hams will come and go. people will get
a ticket and never renew.. who will stay are those WHO have an interest in
electronics and a love and passion for ham radio.. i have elmered for over
35 yrs now. and i have heard all the brags of the ARRL. sorry to say in the
past 15 yrs the ARRL has hurt us more then helped. yes we get a new freq
every now and then but the IARU did more to get that then the ARRL.
If the ARRL would even support the membership 50% of the time i would
remain a member. but i and not remain with a group that has their own
interest and well being put ahead of the general membership.

yes i am 57 been a ham since i was 15 and swl since i was 12. i earned the
right to use the ham bands had it taken away from me in the late 60's and
had to earn that right over again.. being a ham radio operator is NOT
something that should be given too you just because you want something for
nothing. it is a earned right. something you must work hard for.
because when you receive something without hard work and a goal to reach
then you have not respect for it as many of the foul mouths on the bands
do today. they put forth very little to get that right . and show their
lack of respect and caring about it every day on the bands. yes there are
those that also worked hard years ago that do the same thing but they are
far fewer in number then the give it too me i want something for nothing
crew of the past 20 yrs.
