FRANKFORT, KY (February 9, 2004) � The new year has brought some 
changes for Kentucky Emergency Management.  KyEM has lost a 
faithful and long time employee to retirement.  Logan Weiler Jr., 
the Area 13 Manager recently retired.  Dan Hayden, who is 
currently the Area 14 Manager, will replace him.

Dan has been with the Division of Emergency Management for 22 
years.  He has held the Area Manager position for 15 years, and 
has held other positions in the division such as Duty Officer, 
Population Protection Planner and Training Officer.

�I am looking forward to moving to the Area 13 office where I 
will be in my home county (Fayette). Also, being reunited with 
three of my former counties (Garrard, Jessamine, Woodford) in the 
old Area 14. I have had a working relationship with most of the 
counties in Area 13 since 1984 including the CSEPP counties and I 
look forward to working with them as their Area Manager,� says 
Hayden.

Steve Oglesby, who is currently the Area 12 Manager, will take 
over Area 14 along with assuming the role of Earthquake 
Coordinator.  "I'm excited at the opportunity to assist Frankfort 
and Franklin County with their emergency preparedness.  I'm also 
looking forward to working with the various state agencies to 
help them implement enhanced facilities security programs."

Prior to joining KyEM, Steve was the Emergency Management 
Director for Mercer County.  In December 2000, Steve joined our 
team as the Emergency Management Training Coordinator.  Steve was 
promoted to Area 12 Manager in September 2002.

The Area 12 Manager position will be posted in the near future.
