The times change and what we as ham operators have to decide for ourselves
is whether we want to change with them.  I have several radios with tone
capability and at least two that don't have tone boards.  As old as these
radiows are, it's not likely that I could find tone boards even if I want
them.  I do think the advantages of using tones outweigh the disadvantages
because interference can be minimized with tones and with tone squelch you
don't have to listen to other repeaters on the same frequency.  I guess the
only disadvantage is that I either have to find tone boards or limit the use
of the old radios.  Overall, I do think it's best to change with the times.
We can gripe and complain and speculate about who did or didn't do one job
or another but the time for change is close at hand.
