In Memorium
A one minute interval of silence followed the initial check-in period in
remembrance of Janice A. Goodpaster, KG4TVX of Lincoln County, Ky.
Janice, the wife of Ky Assistant Section Emergency Coordinator, Ron
Goodpaster, AG4TY, lost her life in a traffic accident on Friday, July
30, 2004 in Lincoln County. Janice, like her husband, took an active
role in the ARES program of the Ky Section and will be sorely missed by
anyone who ever had contact with her. We, the members of Ky ARES, offer
up our thoughts and prayers to Ron and family as they go through the
days and weeks ahead.
At a time like this it is often hard to know what to say or do.
However, as I have stated before, amateur radio (and especially the
emergency communications aspects of it) is a family all its own and the
loss of one of us is a loss to us all. One thought I offer to our EMCOMM
community for the days ahead can be found in Luke 11:33; in the NIV
Version of the Bible it reads, "No one lights a lamp and puts it in a
place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead he puts it on
its stand, so that those who come in may see the light." Janice shined
forth the light within her each day, so too should we all. Just think,
if everyone did this what a wonderful world we would all live in!
Again, lets remember Janice and those she left behind; namely Ron and
their other family members in the time to come.
