The first Monday of each month KEN opens the floor for net
participants to tell of interesting magazine article, books or
web sites that may be useful to others. For the April 5, net the
following was referenced:
Here are a few interesting web pages I picked up from KyEM Duty
Officer Stan Osborne who worked closely with Patrick, KF4FMZ and
myself during the exercise in western Ky last month.
Disaster Center - Kentucky Page
http://www.disastercenter.com/kentucky/
has media links and a host of other topics such as
Animals Missing or Found in Disasters, Weather links, Health and
Welfare Message Boards and so on.
Official US Time Web Site
http://www.time.gov/
not only has the correct time for all US time Zones, it also has
interesting side pieces on the history of timekeeping, calendars
through the ages and several other time related pages.
With summer coming on, if you are into boating you might be
interested in http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/lnm/d8mrs/default.htm
which is the US Coast Guard's Local Notice to Mariners web page
for their eighth district in which Kentucky is located.
Next week is our monthly training segment. A reminder to all
that the Ky Emergency Net has changed time and frequency. The
net is on Monday evenings at 7:30 PM Eastern time and 6:30 PM
Central time on 3.993.5 MHz. We have not used the 3.888 frequency
since March 8th. Please help spread the word about this.
Apparently we have a few who are not aware of the move and are
trying to figure out where we are. I am still getting the
occasional message from hams looking for the net.
