I thought of the inverter since the batteries in the handheld may not =
always
be fully charged and the alkaline spares may not last as long as you =
would
like. A thought.

The inverter is included in my 'emergency power kit' and 'extended stay'
kit. I didnt figure it would be worth carrying for a 24-48hr stay where
normal batteries should be able to hold me over until someone with a =
longer
stay kit arrived or I was able to get to my house for my 'longer' stay =
gear.
Though you do bring to mind an idea for a 'mobile emergency' kit where =
the
idea is to 'work' out of your car. Then a watt inverter would definately =
be
on the list of stuff to have in the car with you.
