Filtering Junk - A Start

When you talk about spam, it is annoying. However, there are some ways you
can keep from rotting through some of it. If you use Outlook Express on the
PC, you can do some filtering. In the menu, go to Tools, Message Rules,
Mail. Then click on New and create a new filter. Select "Where the subject
line contains specific words" in the first box and "Delete it" in the second
box along with "Stop processing more rules." Then you can go to the third
box and click on the blue underlined "contains specific words" and add words
that are typically in spam titles. Like all those very descriptive words
that only show up in spam.

As more and more messages are received, you can find those special words
used just in those titles. Keep in mind, this won't get all the spam and may
move some of your legitimate files to the deleted area. However, depending
on how things are set, the files will remain in the Deleted Items folder
until you delete them or close Outlook Express.

There are other filters you can use too, you just need to experiment with
them. This is a start to controlling spam and is worth working with. If you
are getting lots of unwanted email, then if you can filter out a percentage,
it's better than none.

Microsoft's Outlook and other email programs have similar filtering
available. Give it a try. It's not perfect, but it is a start to a less
frustrating email experience.
