Thus far all the activity has taken place in the middle
east. Over the last several days I have had conversations
which has lead me to believe that we need to remain prepared
and at the READY to make a response to provide
communications support if we are called upon.
Reasoning:
As the Iraqi regime gets pressed more and more to the wall,
they will become ever increasingly desperate. Already today
comes news that Iraqi private vehicles and buses loaded with
explosives are trying to ram coalition vehicles in a
kamikazi-like effort to forestall the end of their regime.
Acts such as this could mean more casualties on both sides.
Hospital space needs may cause them to bring injured back to
the states bringing extraordinary pressures to the
EMS/Medical communications network in place.
Likewise, IN MY OPINION given info I have seen/heard
domestic threats here in the US stemming from Operation
Iraqi Freedom are not as much of a matter of IF, but more of
WHEN and WHERE? This too would add even more to the
EMS/Mediacal Network stress and also other public service
communications systems. Not to mention the regular
phone/internet routes.
Stay at the ready to be called into active status, review
your info list and equipment yet again and keep an ear open
for incoming news and alerts!
