[KYHAM] 10 meters

For those who use 10 meters often, it is my experience that around 6:00pm the band begins to close.  Then it begins to open again around 8:00am.  I basis this on the fact that around this time, communications in progress begin to fade quickly.  Also, I do not hear any more calling stations.  



I was wondering if calling on 10 meters after around 6 or so in the afternoon is a waste of time.  I realize that the band does not have to be open for limitted contacts (i.e. state-side).  However, I do enjoy the DX during daylight hours.
