As many of you likely already know, this is Ky Severe Storms
Preparedness Month! The state-wide NOAA and EAS ALERT test
is scheduled for March 11.
If your local amateur radio nets wish to participate and
hold a short spotter drill activation in conjunction with
this alert drill it would be welcomed. I will also activate
Ky Emergency Net on 7.228 MHz. LSB, 15 minutes after the
alert is sounded over NOAA and EAS receivers. This will
allow amateurs wishing to test their HF stations (or even
EOC based amateur stations) to do so and any local net
reports can either be sent at that time to me or via e-mail
at a later time. KEN op's will terminate at the top of the
next hour after the alert transmission. This should give a
45 minute window for anyone to reach KEN and participate who
would like to do so.
Also our weekly KEN training material for later this month
will be focusing on spotter nets and severe weather
reporting unless it needs to be pre-empted for more critical
information brought on by world events.
