Tom's comments on simplex and terrain
encouraged me to add that around Mammoth
Cave where we use 146.940/R Glasgow we
also use 146.940 simplex for emergencies when
our repeater is down. We know immediately
then when it comes back and we then duplex
so as to include all the normal stations.
Local ragchews are usually on 146.52 or 146.55
