Newcomers and Traders Net July 15th, 2003
For those of you who didn't know, John Bell, K4RBH is now a silent key.
John passed away on July 9th from a long illness. John will be missed
by us all... to each in their own way. Remember all the good times and =
cherish his memory. We net control ops will do our best to keep the net
going as he would hope it would.

The Newcomers and Traders net was called at 2005 on Tuesday the 15th of
July. Net control op was Jeanie Dalton, KB8QLC. Repeaters were the 146.=

the 444.125 (pl 88.5) linked. =

The Lexington Hamfest and Computer Show will be held at the Votech school=
on
Leestown Pike on August 10th. Tickets at the gate are $6, in advance $5.=

Unfortunately, the banquet planned for the 9th and the night before the =
hamfest has been cancelled by John Meyers, NB4K Section Manager for Kentu=
cky.
Circumstances beyond his control have indicated the need to cancel the =
convention banquet. =

This is a fund-raising effort to help the BARS Club replace hardline and
antennas on the 146.76 repeater. All donations are tax deductible.

BLUEGRASS AMATEUR RADIO CLUB (BARS)
The BARS club is soliciting contributions to enable replacement of hard
line and an antenna on the 146.760 repeater. The weather and age has take=
n it's
toll and the repeater has had very limited range for several years. It ha=
s
been an essential link for emergency operations and community projects
throughout the years and needs to be restored for reliable communications=
.
All donations are tax deductible. If anyone can point to a commercial
benefactor, all information will remain confidential unless otherwise
requested. About $1800 is still needed. The hard line is anticipated =
to be installed late July or August.

Lincoln County ARES net Friday evenings at 8:30. This is a simplex net on=
146.46 Mhz.
Boyle/Mercer ARES net, Monday 9:00 PM, 146.655 minus, no tone.
Kentucky QRP Club, Sunday evening at 8:00 on the 146.760 repeater. This i=

an informative discussion group dedicated to low power operation (less th=

5 watts.) Many projects and contests are ongoing and help is always
available.
The Nicholasville, Jesamine Amateur Wireless Society (JAWS) Club has a
ragchew net every Thursday night at 7:30PM on their 145.49 repeater (minu=

offset.) Everyone is welcome to join. This is a new net.
