VOLUNTARY COMMUNICATIONS EMERGENCY
17 February, 2003
 
The Federal Communications Commission in conjunction with
the ARRL today announced a Communications Emergency  to
exist In Kentucky. Under the authority of section 97.401 of
the Federal Communications Commission's Rules and
Regulations
(47 C.F.R. Part 97)  a Communications Emergency is declared
in Kentucky requiring the protection of amateur emergency
communications frequencies. Amateurs are asked to refrain
from using 444.125 MHz, 146.760 MHz, and 147.165 MHz in
Fayette County, Kentucky, unless they are taking part in the
handling of emergency traffic.  This order is effective
immediately
until rescinded.
