As we close out the final few days of 2003, I'd like to say
thanks to all of the amateurs in the Kentucky Section who have
taken part in Kentucky's Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES)
program this year. This has been another active year as amateur
radio again proved that it is so much more than just a hobby.

After the local and district reports are received in early days
of January for the month of December's activity I will begin to
prepare my annual report concerning all of the activities in the
Kentucky Section this past 12 months. As I mentioned in the
Thanksgiving message, our program has (in eleven months) already
served Kentucky communities in excess of 10,000 man hours in
public service and community emergency response during 2003.

I have been greatly honored this last five years to serve as your
SEC. It has been quite an experience to watch this program grow
and develop. I am very proud of every one of you for the time,
effort and professionalism you have all repeatedly demonstrated.
A special thanks to my ASEC and all of the district and local
leadership including all of the Net Control Stations who make the
program fly 365 days a year. It is my wish this Christmas that
you all find great happiness and peace as we enter the new year
ahead.

Lastly; To All 10,931 Ky Amateurs; A Very Merry Christmas and the
Happiest of New Years.

I bid you all 73,

Ron Dodson, KA4MAP
