Simulated Emergency Test - 2003 is coming up on Saturday, Oct.
4th, for those who choose to do it on the national SET day. SET
can be held any time it is convenient for your group locally and
does not HAVE to be on October 4th! The main idea behind the SET
is to get out and DO SOMETHING! Experience is worth a dozen or
more articles in a magazine.

This year, YOU the DEC/EC (or local leader for those areas
without EC's etc.) will have a wide choice of scenarios that you
can select from based upon what you think needs to be done to
sharpen skills in the local area. In a few more days we hope to
have these ready for you to look over and make your choice. If
your group would like to participate in the SET 2003, send me an
e-mail from the local leadership in the next few days and I'll
get you a coordinator packet out as soon as they are ready to
go. To make things a little more realistic this year, I ask that
you keep those with advance knowledge of all of the scenario's
details to a minimum to make the drill more effective as a
training tool. Also you might want to run these scenarios past
your local 'served agency' once they arrive to see if the 'served
agency' would like to "play" in the SET. (CAUTION! Many agencies
in these days of slashed budgets are not paying overtime for
government and other "Paid" staffers on weekends. This may be a
consideration of "when and who" is playing.)
