In reference to Phil Parrish's Message:

One of the great strengths of the ARRL is a strong field structure - mostly
all appointments. We members elect our Section Managers, Vice Directors and
Directors. Our director nomination is closed but the Kentucky Section
Manager nominations are still open.

Yes, I wonder why a political party has to be formed to elect a director.
When George Race resigned, it was not to assure Gary's election and I do not
see George's name as part of the political party to elect Gary.

An open mind is a good guide. When George resigned, I was sure it was time
for me to resign as Michigan TC and AD after nearly two decades of service.
That decision was based in large measure on the attitude our present
Division leaders have.

Subject: [KYHAM] Politics?

VOTE FOR JIM WEAVER, K8JE, FOR ARRL DIVISION DIRECTOR.

Perhaps he doesn't have the 'political' support of the upper echelons, but
he does have a sincere desire to serve in the best interest of us, the ham
operators of the Great Lakes Division. Isn't it time to put politics aside
and work together to better our hobby? I believe so, therefore I am asking
you to join me in supporting Jim Weaver as our Great Lakes Division
Director.

Of the fellows competing for this office, Jim Weaver is the only one that
has taken the time to communicate with me, on a personal level, dealing with
issues with which I was concerned..... One candidate has not contacted me at
all, while the other only has time to refer me to his web site "for more
information"....Jim Weaver has answered every e-mail I have sent to him
regarding issues and seems genuinely concerned about the future of our
hobby. Let's not allow political 'endorsments' to be our deciding factor,
but rather cast our vote for the BEST person for the job....That person is
JIM WEAVER, K8JE.
