Hubert Turner, 84 (11-5)
MIDDLESBORO - Hubert Turner, 84, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, =
at Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was born Sept. 25, =
1918, in Middlesboro, a son of the late Finley Turner and Emma Hodge =
Turner. He served in the United States Army for over four years in World =
War II, as a technical sergeant 3 with seven campaign stars. He was a =
lifetime member of Mountain Amateur Radio Club, and he and his brother, =
Floyd Turner, built WNTT Radio in Tazewell, Tenn., which they operated =
for 33 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three =
brothers, Claude, Elmer, and Floyd Turner; and a sister, Hallie Lowe. =
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Turner, Middlesboro; sons, George =
Turner, Lexington, Ky., Ray Turner and wife, Ellie; sisters, Lucille =
Shotton, Middlesboro, Nola Holbert, Middlesboro; grandchildren, John, =
Matthew, Luke and Emma Turner, of Marietta, Ga.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Green =
Hills Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Anthony Gilbert presiding. There =
will be no visitation. Shumate Funeral Home is in charge.
