Hello !

She is absolutely gorgeous. This is the first chance I have really had
to
spend anytime on the laptop without having to dash off or go to bed.

Kerissa weighed in at 6#1.8 oz and 17 3/4 inches long. She was born at
11:05 AM on Friday the 17th. She is so tiny. Both of my girls were
longer. She has dark eyes of course.. hard to see them really as she
doesn't like the light much yet and prefers to keep them closed. This
evening after a nice nap on my chest, followed by Mommie's milk, we sort
of
propped her up to get a different view of the world. She liked that. I
left mommie and daddy to fend for themselves and tire her out and try to
get some rest.
Today I went to the grocery.. Where was krogers??? no such animal in
Martinsburg. And bought about $80 in groceries to help them out.
Sandwiches with deli meat
was wonderful! Now there is milk and juice and fruit and stuff to fix.
The meal preparations are not a big deal yet. Tho I bought stuff to
cook
also. But fixing a large meal
at 7:30 is not cool and the desires to wind down take precedence. I had
to
laugh at Greg who said, "we really need to get her on a schedule so we
can
sleep better"
Do they think they will get much sleep? The bad thing is they were
working
on almost 48 hours before she was born with little sleep. Apparently
Laurie was in the early stages of labor on Wednesday night. Despite it
all, my daughter went and got a pedicure and a manicure on Thursday
morning.. to have nice nails as she likes them.. baby or no baby!

I got in about 10:30 on Friday night and was not allowed to go to the
hospital and see my grand-daughter.. Audrey and Michelle Jarrett with
two
kids got in about 9:30 and we all got settled in our motels. Saturday
morning, I got to the apt and was ready with a camera to take pics of
them
arriving. Greg had trouble getting the car seat out and gave up and
just
took Kerissa. They had her all covered up to shield her eyes from the
sunlight. I actually got to hold her first when we all got inside!
Bliss.....

Julie made it back in about 2:30 and stayed till about 8 and then we
went
to find some food... I had been eating junk and needed real food! A
steak
at applebees was wonderful. Julie's hair is really getting long! A
proud
aunt she is.

Julie and Greg and Kristy, were with Laurie for the labor and delivery.
Laurie was not even admitted as they weren't sure she was in true labor
till all of a sudden she went from 3 cm's to 7 !! Needless to say..
she
is happy the labor is over. I wish I could have been there, but she had
very important people there and that makes it wonderful.
The rest of us showed up later and that is cool too.

Tomorrow, Kerissa gets the clamp taken off her umbilical cord and there
are
some errands to run. I am going to try to get my car inspected too.
Get
legal and then get Kentucky plates! I think I am going to try to get my
tires rotated too.

Well, I just wanted to bring a few of you up to date. I don't have my
entire address book in my laptop so, this is really being sent to just a
few folks.

Dee, if you would forward this to others we know from CAMC that would be
great! Michael, I need this forwarded to those you think should have it
there...
The rest will just have to wait. Jeff.. you can announce it on the net
if
you want to :-)

I love you all,

Grandma Jeanie
