After review by myself and others of the written protocols for this
listserv, I have found that perhaps some of the language was a little
vague, and could be misinterpreted. Let me take this opportunity to
present the final revision of KYHAM rules. Since this is being posted to
the list, is posted on the KYHAM page on the KY Amateur Radio Web Site, and
will be automatically sent to all new subscribers, consider the playing
field as level.
There are no major changes, just clarification of the language.
Take care all, and enjoy Dayton!!! 73!

KYHAM Administrator
Welcome to the KYHAM Listserv
------------------------------------------
KYHAM is an email reflector open to anyone interested in amateur radio in
general and amateur radio in Kentucky in particular. KYHAM is independent
from any amateur radio group or organization. Because of this, all
organizations, groups, and individual amateur radio operators are invited
to utilize the listserv to inform subscribers about amateur radio topics
important to them.
All individuals are invited, and indeed encouraged to use the listserv to
disseminate information related to amateur radio clubs, ARES/RACES/Skywarn
groups, net and test session announcements, training materials, news, or
anything else related to amateur radio within Kentucky.
The listserv is thoughtfully managed, and every possible effort is made to
maintain its reputation as a quality source of Kentucky amateur radio
information. Please note and observe the following common sense rules when
participating on the KYHAM listserv.
Rules of Conduct:
-----------------------
Stay on the topic of amateur radio. This is a special interest email
community, and persons subscribing to KYHAM do so only to receive amateur
radio information.
Likewise, no SPAM, junk mail, forwarded letters from other people about
topics that have nothing to do with amateur radio. This includes virus
warnings, pleas for action, and/or other scams. Any subscriber who does
SPAM the listserv will be immediately removed from KYHAM, without appeal,
or recourse.
Respect the opinions of those posting. They will respect yours too. No
flames, fights, or otherwise negative behavior will be permitted. Feel free
to disagree with someone's opinion and debate the issue, but do not attack
the person holding the opinion.
Do not repost private, personal email without first obtaining the
permission of the author.
Let the administrator do his job. If someone does something against the
rules, please do not compound the problem by calling attention, or
"fussing" at the other user. I will handle all problems quickly and
privately. Not following this rule will entitle you to a personal
conversation with the list admin as well. <grin>
You may post personal buy/sell/trade items, or the results from your on-air
amateur radio trader's nets to the listserv. Commercial or dealer items
are NOT permitted, however.
File attachments are not permitted on KYHAM, they are automatically
stripped from the email. Likewise, all HTML encoding is stripped
from messages. This is done through a script that takes out this data, and
simply places the text of message back in the email. There is a chance,
however slight that errors may occur, and legitimate characters will be
stripped out of the message. So it is best to send all messages to KYHAM in
plain-text format to totally eliminate any chance of errors occurring on
your messages.
SPAM and Privacy Policy:
-----------------------------------
As stated in the rules of conduct, unsolicited advertising, otherwise known
as junk mail, or SPAM is not permitted here. Spam is a serious problem on
the Internet, and we make every effort to combat on QSL/QTH.NET and on KYHAM
KYHAM is a closed, subscriber-only list. Furthermore, those joining KYHAM
are screened to make sure they indeed are interested in amateur radio in
Kentucky. All subscribers are manually added to the listserv. Those who
do not have their amateur radio callsign in their email address, or whose
identity cannot be discerned by their address are sent an email asking for
their amateur radio callsign or their name and city. This simple of a step
prevents spammers from subscribing.
The list administrator maintains a roster of KYHAM subscribers. The email
address, name, callsign, and city of residence of all subscribers is the
only information recorded. This information is a matter of public record
by looking up any amateur radio license. It is used for administrative
purposes only, and is not sold to other parties who harvest email
addresses, or other information.

Decorum :
--------------
Please be considerate about reposting emails that are already
mass-distributed such as the ARRL Letter. Many people already receive
these notices direct from the source. Also, if you are thinking about
posting a particular message to several different listservs, keep in mind
that many people subscribe to more than one listserv. Some users may frown
on you for doing so.
KYHAM is an extension of the KY amateur radio community. This community
grows every day. Keep in mind there are many new members who may not be
accustomed to operating on a listserv. Help them learn by example by being
a good sport, and obeying the rules.
Should you have any questions about these rules, or technical questions, do
not hesitate to contact the list owner/administrator, Pat Spencer, KD4PWL
