Since 1999, Kentucky Amateur Radio Emergency
Service has recognized the exemplary service,
and achievements of an individual ARES member
(in one case a team effort)
who has gone above and beyond the call of
duty to provide amateur radio service in
time of community disaster, and/or strengthen
the organization that serves their community.
ANY ARES member who has not previously won
is eligible for the award. To be
considered for the OOTY award, the operator
must be nominated by another amateur operator.
Previous winners of the award are:
(1999) Ronald Ritchie, N4MOM, (then KF4MOM)
(2000) Scott County ARES (now SK Ted James, WD4KYD EC)
(2001) Fred Jones, WA4SWF
Things you need to consider before nominating
someone for the award are their level
of participation, efforts to improve the
strength of the ARES organization in their
area, their conduct in emergency operations,
and their overall dedication to public service.
The award reciepiant will be duly recognized
for their tireless dedication, and committment in a
public setting, on KEN, newsletters, and over the
Ky Amateur Radio Web Site.
This year's award will be presented
at the Kentucky ARRL Convention Banquet,
Saturday, August 3, 2002 in Lexington, KY. This is
part of the Central Kentucky Hamfest on August 4.
On Line nominations can now be filed at:

Past OOTY Winner's Ron Ritchie N4MOM and Fred Jones, WA4SWF
along with your Section Emergency Coordinator (myself)

DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS WILL BE 2359 zulu, June 23, 2002 so
