For those of you who usually work the Children's Charity Classic
golf tournament, I have some news, and it isn't good. The coordinating
committee has met, and I just got off the phone with one
of the members. It seems that the Children's Charity Classic has
merged with the John Michael Montgomery Classic, giving the
event 44 teams of golfers. This is an increase of 20 teams over
previous years. The coordinators felt that there will be no way
that Hams can handle that number of teams, so they have
gone to providing cell phones to each team, and I guess the reporting
will be handled by the person keeping the score for each team.

It seems a shame that we were not offered the opportunity to
develop a plan to provide the coverage in a coordinated effort.
I think we have enough experience in doing such things that we
could provide anything that would be necessary to assure the job
was performed efficiently and effectively. But we were not consulted,
so I guess that will mean more of us will get to help with setting up
field day. I do feel that, due to their relying on persons who have
little or no experience in communicating under pressure, that we
might be asked to once again participate next year. Guess we'll just
have to wait and see.

Hope to see you all at the Field Day site,
73, de Bill/N4DIT
