MEMO

TO: ALL KY AMATEUR RADIO OPERATORS:

FROM: Ron Dodson, KA4MAP
Section Emergency Coordinator
Ky Amateur Radio Emergency Service

================================================
As we all know...
The State-wide Severe Storms Drill with National
Weather Service and KyEM is scheduled for TUESDAY,
March 26, 2002. TEN DAYS FROM NOW!

Should this be a severe weather day, the drill
would likely be held over until the threat has passed.

Ky Emerg. Net WILL ACTIVATE on our daytime 7.228 MHz
freq.
I will attempt to remain there as long as possible,
but have been asked to assist a neighboring entity
with a hazardous materials exercise some time that day
(not SSPM related) as an evaluator. Unsure yet if this
will
impact the KEN op's from this end. May need to get
the alternate NCS to step in for a while. Any
Volunteers?

I encourage all local/regional ARES nets to activate
and
assess their current available amateur status
and report back to me either via HF, e-mail or
via radiogram to KA4MAP on that evening's KTN on 3.960
MHz.

To simplify reporting your net activities to me,
I have prepared a checklist below for your use.

I will then prepare an afteraction report to KyEM and
NWS
reflecting amateur participation by Area (1-14) and
Net.
Please get all reports to me No Later Than 8 pm EST.
on Wednesday March 27! BTW, this also counts on your
ARES and other activity reports so add the net and man
hours
on when you report March activity after April 1st.

Did Amateur Radio provide first alerting to county

want to comment on.)
