LAST REMINDER - PUT 7:00 PM, JUNE 13 ON YOUR CALENDAR

June 22, 2002, will be proclaimed as Amateur Radio Day by
Lexington Mayor Pam Miller. The Proclamation will be made this
coming Thursday, June 13 at 7:00 PM at the Urban County Council
meeting. All ham radio operators in Fayette County and
surrounding areas are invited to attend the ceremony. Try to get
there by 6:45 PM. We will be done a few minutes after 7:00 PM.

It will take place in the Urban County Council chambers on the 2nd
floor of the Government Building, 200 East Main Street. Free
parking is available in two places: the garage next to the County
Clerk and the Transit Center.

The County Clerk garage is one-half block west of the Government
Building. To get to the Government Building exit the County Clerk
garage and walk one-half block east on Main Street (across the
street from Bank One, the big white building). The Transit Center
can be entered from either Vine Street or High Street. Exit the
Transit Center on the roof (there are elevators) and walk north on
Martin Luther King Blvd. The Government Building is at the
intersection of Main and Martin Luther King.

I think this is a very important function for all local ham operators.
The proclamation specifically recognizes BARS, ARES, and
RACES. Our service is little understood by government officials
and the general public. This may be our big chance to start a
major reversal.

Please be there. This is important.
