In reply - VOAD stands for Volunteer Organizations
Active in Disasters

We have a state VOAD group here in Ky of which ARES is
a member organization.  Some but not necessarily all
such organizations include...

During the 1997 flood, I was told that we had in excess
of 150 volunteer disaster groups working within the
Commonwealth of Ky.  In a disaster, we can assist any
BONA FIDE VOAD group if requested.  Though most should
be working with you to plan operations beforehand if
they want to maximize the benefit they receive from
ARES, disasters can sometimes change the 'rules' a
little.  Again, GOOD JUDGMENT has no substitute.
