Hello folks,
Everyone once in a while, we need to think about the facilities of the
KYHAM listserv, KY Amateur Radio Web site, and the countless personal and
club web sites web sites hosted by QSL and QTH.NET at no charge.
I have received a note from Al Waller, K3TKJ the owner/administrator of QSL
and QTH.NET. One of his premium donors has had to withdraw support, and it
is going to make for a budgetary problem later in the year. These servers
need a pretty hefty Internet connection because of the load they are
under. It costs about $18,000 per year just to keep the servers connected
to the Internet. This does not include hardware, software and maintenance
costs.
If you, your club utilizes the systems for their web sites, and/or find the
services you receive through these systems is an asset to your amateur
radio hobby, please consider supporting QSL/QTH.NET in the coming weeks.
Last year at Dayton, I spoke to Al for a long period, and he spoke highly
of help he receives from Kentucky to the others that were gathered
around. I took a lot of pride in that.
I found the following methods that we can send donations to QSL/QTH.NET:
Donations by mail: QSL.NET, Inc, 34087 Old Hickory Road, Laurel, Delaware 19956
Donations accepted by Credit Card https://proxy.qsl.net/donation (secure
server)
PayPal http://www.paypal.com (account [email protected])
BidPay http://www.bidpay.com (account [email protected])
I am glad that I don't have to send out bad news like this very often. I
am not a salesman. But I am proud of what Al said about KY being a big help.
Thanks, 73,
Pat, KD4PWL
