Actually I have been asked before if I had a license. But they didn't ask
to see it. I showed them anyway when they asked about it though. Now They
know me at the store that I go reguarly to (by name, isn't that scary ;)
and they don't have a problem with me buying things. (I've bought a
number of radios from them.)
At another local store they were pretty slick about asking me. The Clerk
angaged me in conversation abou t Amateur Radio and askedme where I have
taken my test and gotten my license through. i told them and he asked me
what my call was and again I told him. Turns out, though that the clerk
was an amateur too so we had shop talk. Now this doesn;t always happen,
but at least it's nice to know that you can go and ask questions and they
will actually know the answer. (most of the time I know more then the
clerks and get strange looks when I try to tell them what I am doing ;)
Again this are just a couple of local examples and doesn't happen
everywhere. But I thought I would throw in my 2 cents. :)
