I agree, 6m (and VHF+ weak signal ops) are a fairly rare breed in =
Kentucky although activity has slowly picked up in the last few years.
I'm active on 6m, 2m, 432, and AO-40 from EM79pa and EM78pp in N =
Kentucky as time allows. Keep an FT-847 on 50.125 anytime I'm in the =
shack in EM79, operating from an apartment has it's challenges :-) Do =
my serious operating from a tower site near Dry Ridge in EM78pp. I'm =
also tinkering around 1296 at times, but nothing serious on the air yet. =
Admittedly I haven't been as active as I usually am, too many other =
priorities distracting me over the last year or so. With the economy =
and things across the country the way they are, I'm sure I'm not alone =
in this department :-)
Plenty of action for those patient enough. Snagged C6ALW in FL14 on =
NA-001 (Bahamas) the other day when I stopped in for lunch, 15w to a PAR =
halo in the attic. Heard ZF1DC a week or two ago, already had him in =
the logs so I let the guys that need 'em, have a crack at him. 'taint =
pretty, but it gets the job done. Nice opening into Florida Sunday =
evening, so there's plenty of fun to be had if you've got the patience =
and ears for it. One thing I've noticed lately is a lot of time the =
band is open and there's not a peep on .125 as many ops avoid it to =
avoid getting posted on the DXClusters too fast. A lot of the Europeans =
I've logged, were just calling away up above 50.150 and little =
indication on the DXClusters anything was going on. Lesson I learned =
last fall, when you walk in the shack, spin the dial around a =
bit...never know what you may stumble upon :-)
The DXworld webcluster page is pretty good, although it (like many =
similar setups) tends to degenerate into childishness at times.
I'll do a shameless plug for a nice mailing list for the VHF/UHF weak =
signal operator in this area:
http://www.hamradiousa.net/VHFUHF/
Every so often Tom, K4FJW will post a compliled list of the VHF/UHF gang =
that's handy for reference. Low traffic list, things pick up some =
around the contests. IMHO, probably one of the best lists to subscribe =
to for an op in this area. =20
Here are some of the guys in KY that are active on VHF/UHF weak signal =
bands, from my logs at least:

Most all are on 6m, probably a few that aren't. Just cut-n-pasting from =
my logs. I'm sure there are more out there in KY, this just from a =
quick pass over my logs.
