The Tulsa Amateur Radio Club, along with the Tulsa Health Department, is
operating special event station W5IAS on April 13 during a statewide
bioterrorism exercise. The exercise, code named "Sooner Spring," will
involve responses to simulated bioterrorist events in three cities across
Oklahoma. Tulsa's event is a response to a smallpox outbreak.

As a part of the exercise, the Tulsa Health Department will activate its new
Emergency Operations Command Center. We have set a goal of contacting 30
states and 20 countries during the exercise to demonstrate to federal, state
and local officials the effectiveness of amateur radio in providing
communications during emergencies.

Please notify amateurs in your section of the "Sooner Spring" exercise, and
encourage them to contact us on one of the frequencies indicated in the
below announcement. Your participation in this critical project is greatly
appreciated. If you would like to set a specific schedule during the event,
email me a time and frequency and we will call you. Thanks.
