Message to all RACES team members in Kansas - January 29, 2014

Howdy all,

By now some of you know that Herb Fiddick, NZ0F, has resigned as the Kansas State RACES Officer. On 23 January 2014, I was appointed
as the new Kansas State RACES Officer. I am going to need help from all of the members of the group to do this job.... no one person
can do it all alone. To that point I want to ask each of you to feel free to contact me directly with any good, bad or indifferent
ideas you may have to assist me in building our RACES program so that we are even better able to provide the services and protection
that the members of our communities deserve. My email is kc0nyk at gmail.com, and I will try my very best to answer your concerns
withing 48 hours of receipt. I may not always have the exact answer you wish, but I will acknowledge your issue and work to find a
solution.

For those who are currently county RACES Radio Officers, please contact me as soon as you can so that we can arrange a get together
and work up plans for training, exercises and nets. For the moment, we will continue with the Thursday nets held on the 1st, 3rd and
5th Thursday of each month. Beginning with the January 30th at 1900 hrs local time, we will also be running an Echo Link net
starting February 6th on the conference mode NODE 124390 call sign KC0NYK. But in the near future I plan to obtain a KS RACES call
sign for our nets, etc. Also, please let me know when you will be having any training meetings and where so that I can attempt to
attend so that we can all become familiar with each other and to learn our capabilities.

As for me, I am Jim Tuggle, KC0NYK, an Extra Class operator [I did it the old way, Elements 1,2,3 and 4 by exam] as well as being an
ARRL member for so long now I really have forgotten how long. I re-licensed in 2002 after many years away from the hobby and quickly
found that I truly enjoy Emergency Services work, participating in SKYWARN, SATERN Team [a county coordinator], ARES [as an
assistant EC in H4] as well as a number of other positions. I became a member of the Montgomery County RACES Team in 2004 and was
appointed as the Radio Officer for the past 5 years. I'm also the Training Coordinator for the MG CERT Team. I have completed a
number of FEMA courses thru both KS TRAIN and FEMA/University. I am a Department of Energy certified MERRTT Instructor, a member of
the KDHE Radiation Response Volunteer Team and more.

Again, I will need your help and support, in which to do this job.

Now, for our NETS

Thursday 30 January 1900 hrs local 7.290 MHz LSB

Thursday 6 February 1900 hrs local 3.290 MHz LSB
There will be an Echo Link net running on node 124390 at the
same time for our Tech operators.

Thursday 13 February 1900 hrs local 7.290 MHz LSB
There will be an Echo Link net running on node 124390 at the
same time for our Tech operators.

We will try to make sure that these frequencies, times, etc., are on Larry's List, the Kansas RACES Facebook & Yahoo pages, the MG
County, KS, CERT Team Facebook page as well.

Looking forward to meeting you all on the nets…..and in person.

73,

Jim Tuggle, KC0NYK
Kansas State RACES Officer
