Yes, you read it correct. A DOUBLE fox hunt!
When: Sunday, September 20th
Time: Start hunting at 17:00
Who: Any HAM may participate. We welcome those from out of the area as well. Non-hams are welcome to ride a long with a friend to help.
Where: Howard County.
Boundaries: Kokomo to no further from Kokomo than 600 N, 500 S, 600 E. and 600 W. (500 S. is 1 mile south of S.R. 26.) The fox boxes will not be on private property but could be located in public parks, school grounds, near a public building, along roadways and similar public places. Do not go on to private land! Foxes will not be placed in high traffic areas or along 4-lane roadways.
Fox 1
Broadcast Freq. = Listen to 147.240 repeater at 17:00. This fox has a voice message for about 20 seconds then off about 60 seconds then on for 20 seconds with just carrier then repeats this sequence.
Fox 2
Broadcast Freq. = Listen to 147.240 repeater at 17:00. This fox has Morse ID at beginning and end of transmission with various tones in between. On about 20 seconds and off about 60 seconds.
Individuals may hunt, but I encourage a group effort utilizing the 147.240 repeater for Fox Hunt communications. If we have a net controller (who does not know fox locations) then he/she can help direct field hunters based on reported signal strength.
The hunt will end by 6:30 if foxes not found. The Kokomo Amateur Radio Club will then meet at 7:00 PM at the EMA facility on South Berkley in Kokomo. If foxes are found early enough we can pick a nearby food establishment for a quick dinner.
