  Repeater Updates


      375 (Echolink Repeater)

While the 375 repeater doesn't see a lot of traffic, it currently is 
offline for repair after a possible lightning strike or other additional 
trouble.


      Russiaville UHF Repeater

Steve Jones, N9KYB, has installed a repeater in Russiaville 442.525+.  
It requires a PL tone of 131.8. The coverage is quite good according to 
Steve.  It can reach to Lafayette and provides the temperature on the 
top of the hour.


      Additional Kokomo UHF Repeater

Steve Jones, N9KYB, returned the old N9LLO repeater to service on 
444.025+ and it also requires a PL tone of 131.8.  There has been some 
casual discussion that this repeater may become part of a larger linked 
repeater system covering northern Indiana.


      NEW Galveston UHF Repeater Coming Soon

Steve Jones, N9KYB, is working to put a new DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) 
repeater on a tower at 300 feet.  You might ask, what is DMR?  Here is a

Currently there are only four other DMR repeater on air in Indiana.

DMR will require a new radio. Many amateurs are using Motorola Equipment 
but there are additional manufactures too.

There is a company called Connect Systems which is producing a low cost 
HT.  (A mobile is coming by end of the year.)  The CS700 can be ordered 
directly for $180 plus $15 shipping. The programming software is free 
but a cable is $5.  Order direct from the site by calling.

Steve is hopeful the DMR repeater in Galveston will be operational by 
the end of June.  Hopefully there will be a demo at the July Radio and 
Repeater Club Meetings.

    Updated PL Tones & Map:


The Indiana Repeater Council made changes to the PL tone assignments 
across Indiana this past winter.  While KARC currently has not plan of 
action to update the PL tones from 88.5 on the 240 repeater, I suspect 
it will be discussed at the July meeting.

The WIRES repeater in Rossville is changing tones this Saturday. More

I have attached a map showing the new PL layout for Indiana.  You might 
keep it handy should you find your favorite repeater no longer 
accessible.  The PL tone may have been updated.
