The area I expect to set up in has lots of trees that make excellent antenna
supports. The only area this is not true is near the swimming pool, but I
think it is best if we keep the stations within sight of each other.
My filters need to go in a 50 Ohm section of the antenna system. That means
between the radio and tuner. The filter only works on one band, and must be
removed before changing bands. If you transmit on the wrong band you will
not hurt the filter with a 100w radio, but it could damage the radio. The
filter looks like a short or an open on bands that are filtered out.
I would like one of the portable stations to take 40m, and the other to take
20m. If you guys will be coming later in the morning it will probably be
best if you take 20m. You are welcome to use my 20m Moxon Rectangle antenna.
It needs 12v for the switching relay. There is room for you to put up
several antennas if you want.

Subject: [Ccarc] Fw: JOTA Plan
Ok folks,
The plan below is the plan as we know it. As far as equipment goes I have my
TS850 I'm more than happy to bring. I have also one of the club's tuners and
power supply which I will also bring. I plan on having my PSK interface with
us so we can go that route. As far as the antenna goes, we could probably
use the double inverted V we have along with the pushup pole I have in my
garage. This antenna has worked very well for us at FD getting contacts last
year on 160, 80, and 20 SSB and this year 20 and 40 PSK. It's very tunable
and obviously extremely band flexible and still works on those bands. We can
set up the antenna Friday evening and be ready to go after the meeting
Saturday morning.
If anyone has any more or better ideas now's the time to speak up. I'll get
with everyone at the meeting and closer to time as far as when to meet so we
can set up stuff Friday evening.
Tom, I'm presuming you'll be working on or helping with making an ISS
contact. You've done a great job so far talking directly to Jeff to make
sure what you need is there. I think Dave has a home made yagi for that
specific purpose he just made recently and I hear it works pretty well.
>From what I've read lately about the ISS they haven't had a great deal of
time to devote to radio so lets just hope that for the sake of the scouts
they can make time in their free time on that pass.
Thanks guys, I really appreciate the effort and enthusiasm in this and hope
that we can help make it fun for everyone.....especially the scouts.
