If you are having trouble with a digipeater like the Valley Digi at EARS
(KL7AIR-2) I suggest you find a work around.

Basic command to direct connect to an EARS Digi use 'Connect KL7AIR-5"
to leave mail or "Connect KL7AIR-7" to use it as a linking point to
someone else.  To digi thru you need to express that like this "connect
VALLEY v ears" or "c valley v kl7air-2" for example.

There is NO BBS function running at this station never has been. Digi's
are on 145.01 (Eagle Node) and 147.96 (Valley Node) 24/7. As far as I
know only the Eagle Node had a BBS function in it and that was not
working as of the last time I tried to use it.  Basic messages to
someone and the "talk" function does work at both the area Packet Nodes.
Neither has the ability these days to send messages outside of the Node
itself, in that regard it is a mailbox only.

If you have an immediate problem requiring a fast response to an issue
at EARS you will need to contact my alternate KL7MO Mike OKeefe.
However, at this time access to the base is restricted and at times
problematic so I would encourage you to think outside the box if say the
Valley Digi fails to respond as you want it to.

ANY PACKET STATION CAN ACT AS A DIGI POINT!  So if you have others who
are able to directly link to Valley and you can direct to them, digi via
those stations to Valley.   All that is needed is that the intermediate
station allow DIGI ON in his TNC.

EARS provides these VHF Digi's and many other Amateur Radio related
services to the area Hams as a courtesy and these is open to all
licensed users.  That said with all that is going on right now our
ability to jump when someone says to is as far as I am concerned,
unrealistic.
