Copying here from the Alaska VHF and Up list:

Hello group,

Today the weather gods took pity on me and gave me clear weather for
contest prep. The truck is serviced, gear is packed, and I have two brand
new antennas just waiting for some electrons.

My 4NEC2 models translated perfectly into real life, and my new yagis will
give me about 10dBd gain on 70 cm, and about 7 dBd gain on 2m. Not bad for
rotatable yagis that can go mobile. (6 m will be an omnidirectional 1/4
wave for this event.)

On Saturday the route starts in Susitna North and ends on Turnagain Arm.
Let's get those Valley stations on air.

Sunday covers the Kenai Peninsula for the first time, activating BP40 and
BO49. If you don't have VHF/UHF contacts with those grids then keep an ear
open - I'll be calling. And with the gain I'm bringing Anchorage will
definitely be in range.

Keep an eye on email around noon both days for updates from the road. I'll
probably set aside some time Saturday evening to run digital from the
Kenai, or maybe go on HF, so if you're equipped of that then you'll have an
ear on the other end.
Let's light up VHF this weekend!
73,
Brandon
