Hi Craig,
Yeah, I figured I wouldn't be heard much beyond south Anchorage. With as
many people as we have on the Saturday morning nets I might start doing
something like that more often: maybe a SOTA activation, or trying out
other locations once in a while.
I keep thinking that it would be a lot of fun to run some digital on
those Saturday nets after the voice portion wraps up. Some PSK31 on 6M
could be fun. It turns out I do have an issue with my Yaesu 857 though -
I think the power amplifier has a problem. When I brought the rig home
and did some testing with a wattmeter and dummy load I found I'm only
getting a max of 20 watts output. On HF and 6 M it should be 100.
