Hello group,
Thanks to everyone for the contacts yesterday during the contest. Even
though we didn't have a lot of time to publicize the event there were still
contacts and fun to be had. The weather from the peak was perfect, although
I accidentally picked one that blocked my view North to the valley.
I mentioned this on the VHF group reflector as well, but I noticed that 6
meter capability is pretty sparse right now. 6 is a really great band to
use in hilly, rolling terrain like we have here, aside from its occasional
DX use. Even gain antennas are still very manageable. I've set them up
portable on hilltops numerous times.
Would anyone be interested in something like a simplex digital net using 2
meter and 6 meters? The net could start out on 2, run the digital modes
that the ARRL uses for field day, and then switch to 6 for the same modes
one more time. Similar format to the Tuesday Simplex net, but using FM
modulation digital modes - probably psk31 and MFSK16. Food for thought . .
.
Brandon
