Hi everyone,
Almost two years ago I stepped up when the standing Activities Chair for the
Anchorage Amateur Radio Club slot came open. It was my first introduction
to the efforts of the AARC, and I have enjoyed the club and activities so
much that I have gone on to be one of the board members in addition to an
increasing role keeping our club equipment functional.
It is time to hand the position to the next person, and it will be vacant
come January. The duties are few but also fun:
1. Find speakers (a great way to reach out into the community, there
are many interesting people in this region, and many topics)
2. Announce public service events and direct people to our teams of
volunteers
3. Announce monthly meetings, in the forum like this one (you received
one of my last announcements yesterday for this coming Friday's meeting)
4. Procure and disseminate the door prizes, an AARC tradition
5. Attend board meetings and learn about the workings of the club and
interactions with the community and spend time with other hams who volunteer
their time to promote amateur radio
6. Receive and respond to various communications that come to the
Activities Chair (I have entertained hams from outside who contact that
email, I have directed folks to our Field Day event, and been in a position
to answer other questions about ham radio in Alaska)
I encourage someone out there to consider taking this position. It is an
important one and should not be left vacant.
If interested, please contact me at the email listed or call me at home 258
1445. You can also contact any other board member, all of our contact
information is on our website www.kl7aa.net.
Thanks for the opportunity to assist the club and look for me at club
meetings and again coordinating Field Day in 2016, and of course, on the
air!
73's,
Dave AL7LO
