While the paper drill is routing thru the FCC, I will go on an announce
the changes for KL7USA Ft Richardson.

I have assumed the duty of being the responsible party for KL7USA, think
of that as the "Trustee" for the call. However, being that both KL7USA
and KL7AIR are in fact Military Amateur Recreation Calls the rules are
slightly different.

Because they are not regular club calls I am not faced with the 1 club
call limit imposed by the FCC a few years ago. Under regular Amateur
rules a ham can only be in control of one club call at a time today. So
that explains why I can control 2 Club Calls so to speak.

When Elmendorf and Ft Richardson merged in 2010 a great many things also
merged. Since there was no ham club on the post the call was just
floating, Lerry Yerks, WL7BNW had been protecting it as the responsible
party for years. His efforts are greatly appreciated. The Elmendorf ARS
- KL7AIR Club is part of JBER, we have both active duty AF and Army
members in the club. It just made sense to take control of the KL7USA
call and get it back on the air. You should start hearing KL7USA on HF
shortly.

I have ordered QSL cards as well so we will be able to send out cards
for confirmations. Will look at adding LotW for the call soon.

The KL7USA VHF Repeater is alive and well on Ft Richardson at the Nat
Guard Armory. 147.18 - split and a 88.5 PL Tone. Decent coverage
area. It's an open repeater so any ham can use it, but it like KL7AIR
is not open for use outside of FM Voice. If your playing Slow Scan TV
go elsewhere.

If you have any documented history for KL7USA, old confirmations or some
such I would appreciate that info. I want to try and put together any
logged contacts that have been lost over the years.

I have requested a Call Book search for the call from Pete, NL7XM who is
the well known Call Book collector.

I added KL7USA to the KL7AIR Website and will be further updating that
site as new information becomes available. KL7USA now uses PO Box 6079,
JBER AK 99506 as a mailing address.
