The North American Championship Sled Dog Race is scheduled for Friday,
Saturday and Sunday, February 22, 23 and 24. The race runs from Noon to no
later than 5PM all three days. The 147.300 repeater will be used. All but
one of the checkpoints (#9) can be driven to and about half of them can be
worked from the vehicle. A handheld can be used for any of them. The Lake
Otis crossing (#5/15) can not be worked from a car. It is in a hole and an
external antenna is recommended. To fully staff the course will take a
minimum of 14 HAMs for all three days. Well also need a couple of
alternates and relief operators. Warm clothing, spare battery and a headset
are also appropriate for this event. Bring your own snacks and coffee too.
Contact John Lynn at KL7CY at ARRL.NET to volunteer and for additional
information. He will send a map to all replies so you can pick the
checkpoint you want, first come first served.
Here is the latest roster: We need to fill #8 through #11 for sure.
Race start at Noon, setup at 11:00AM and check point check in at 11:30AM
The race net will be 147.300 plus with 141.3 Hz, the KL7ION repeater.
Net Control will be from a home station so start/finish only has to work the
board
Two operators are desirable at start/finish on the board to insure
continuous coverage
